VIDEO. What is he doing there? Risk criticizes referee at Aus Open
American tennis player Alison Risk He argued with the referees against Alexandra Panova and Natela Dzalamidze in the first round match of the Australian Open doubles.
Risk, who hit the Russian woman Panova’s foot with a ball in one of the draws, apologized. The referee awarded Dzalamidze and Panova a point because he didn’t see a kick in the leg, then the rally was supposed to be over (the ball can only be hit with a racket) and Risk saw the handicap as an obstacle.
Risk and his partner, Linda Frugvirtova, tried to explain that the apology was made after the ball hit Panova’s foot and the rally ended accordingly. The referee refused to overturn the decision and the supervisor was summoned to court.
The auditor said he did not follow the rally and generally “the judge makes such decisions”. To this Risk replied: “So what the hell is he doing in there? That’s ridiculous. He’s sleeping there, right? The ball hit his damn leg. Man… Watch the ball. First rule of tennis.
As a result, rivals Risk and Frugvirtova were one point left, but the American and Czech won the match with 6:7(4), 6:4, 7:5.
After the match, Risk wrote: “The opponent should have taken the hit. After the match, the referee apologized for the mistake, and I accepted his apology. Fouls and cheating happen all the time in tennis, especially at the junior level. Parents and gamers spend a lot of time, money and psychological energy.
As you can see, I really want to help the future of tennis. If you’re working on missing detection technology or VAR and need funding, please email me.”
Tennis chair referees have a way of “not seeing” something magical. They don’t see double bounces and apparently don’t see a ball hit a player in the middle of a rally. Even though there are 752 cameras in the field, is there still no system to move these things forward? #AusOpen2023 pic.twitter.com/pUJsJCjceR

PHOTOGRAPH. Serena Williams may return to tennis at 44
According to media reports, Serena Williams is considering a sensational return to professional tennis after a four-year break.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion retired in 2022, avoiding the word “retirement” and saying only that he was “moving away” from the sport.
Her last match took place at the 2022 US Open, where she lost to Ajla Tomljanovic. Williams’ re-entry into the anti-doping pool last December fueled rumors of a comeback. Although Serena later denied her return, The Telegraph’s sources claim that the tennis community is not buying it and believes Serena can still compete at WTA level.

Williams will be eligible to return to Roland Garros this summer, including mixed doubles, with possible options at Wimbledon or the US Open. Her older sister Venus continues to perform at the age of 45, increasing interest in Serena’s possible return.
Former champion Jim Courier is confident that Williams will definitely be back on the field if injuries are not a problem; The only question is the format and tournament.
