In the final sprint of the Australian Open we enter asince sunday morning (22.01) since the beginning of the “16” phase. That means we have a clear picture of what we expect to see on the men’s dashboard.

Among those who continue is Stefanos Tsitsipas, who will face Yanik Siner on Sunday morning (around 10am). The Greek tennis player has a demanding path, but at the same time without a big name.

In the other half, the name Novak Djokovic undoubtedly stands out. The Serb may not be at his best but he is always one of the favorites for the title.

The prize money record and the points

Aside from the grand trophy, all athletes who continue in the Australian Open fight claim the cash prizes offered by the organizers and of course the points.

Let’s start with the prize money. In total, the organizers distributed around 49 million euros to the athletes who will compete in the first Grand Slam of the year.

This is also the largest amount they’ve ever given, with a year-over-year increase of just over 3%. Of course, the two winners in the men’s and women’s singles get the most money, bringing around 1.8 million euros to their account.

Of course, in the back of the competitors’ minds will be the points they can score. The world No. 1 ranking is particularly open for the men, as Djokovic and Tsitsipas claim it from Alkarath.

Winners will each receive 2,000 points and it is widely expected that there will be redistributions among the top 10 men.
