No Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells
It’s official: Novak Djokovic will not participate in the Indian Wells tournament. Nor at the Miami Open in two weeks.
Not vaccinated against COVID-19, Djokovic confirmed on his Twitter account on Wednesday evening that he had not obtained authorization to enter the United States. It is therefore excluded from the tournaments that take place there.
“Even though I was automatically entered into the BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open draw, I knew it was unlikely that I would be able to travel,” he wrote. The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) has confirmed that the regulations will not change. So I will not be able to play in the United States. Indeed, the current rule is that foreign visitors must be fully vaccinated to enter the United States. The Serb has not received any doses of the vaccine.
This means that since the start of 2022, Djokovic has only taken part in one tournament, that of Dubai, where he was defeated in the quarter-finals by the Czech Jiri Vesely.
At the beginning of January, the 34-year-old athlete showed up in Melbourne to take part in the Australian Open. Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.
Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.
Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.
Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.
Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
