“Complete boredom” – Chesnokov about Medvedev’s match in the final of the tournament in Indian Wells
The semi-finalist of Roland Garros in 1989, the winner of two tournaments of the Masters series, Andrei Chesnokov, considered boring the final match of the Masters in Indian Wells, in which Russian Daniil Medvedev lost to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz defeated Medvedev with a score of 6:3, 6:2. The Russian lost for the first time in the last 20 matches.
– Complete boredom. Medvedev did not have the first serve, there were a lot of unforced errors, he played very badly on the fly. The only thing you can be happy about is winning two games in the second set. Because the score was 0:4 and 0-30. Could even end 0:6.

In the updated rating of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) on Monday, Medvedev rose from sixth to fifth position, and in the championship race, the Russian athlete rose from third to second place.

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.
Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.
Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.
Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.
Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
