(Bad Hombourg, Germany) Quebec’s Leylah Annie Fernandez easily won her first game of the Bad Hombourg Open 6-0, 6-1 against Germany’s Lena Papadakis.

The Lavalloise needed only 54 minutes to win her first WTA 250 tournament match.

In the second round, Fernandez will face ninth-seeded Russian Anna Blinkova, who defeated another German, Sabine Lisicki, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Later on Monday, fifth seed Bianca Andreescu is scheduled to face Britain’s Sonay Kartal.
