Fairy tale Mirra Andreeva at Wimbledon, alas, is over. In the 1/8 finals, the young Russian woman could not cope with the onslaught of the American Madison Keys and left the London courts. But even in this flight, you can find some advantages – at least, Mirra’s wallet has become much thicker.

How much did the most promising tennis player in the world earn?

Not the biggest amounts

According to Metaratings, Andreeva is entitled to 207 thousand pounds sterling for reaching the 1/8 finals. At the current exchange rate, this is a little more than 24 million rubles. In the event of a victory over Keys, the Russian woman would have received another 133 thousand pounds, or about 16 million rubles.

However, these are not the biggest sums for Wimbledon. Some tennis players earn on a double bet, declaring in singles and doubles tournaments at the same time. Andreeva, on the other hand, concentrated only on personal performances, and her decision is quite understandable: you should not overload the 16-year-old body.

Approximately nine million

The amount of prize money for Wimbledon, of course, is huge. But Mirra will not receive it in full.

The fact is that in the UK there is a progressive scale of taxation. From income over 150 thousand pounds withheld 45 percent. Thus, 113,850 pounds, or approximately 13.25 million rubles, will be transferred to Mirra’s account.

But even this amount cannot be called final. Coaches, managers and sponsors are getting in on the act, who also want their share. Let’s remove another third and get about nine million rubles – this is exactly the fee that Mirra will get.

780 thousand per hour

However, even this amount is huge for a 16 year old.

Mirra spent a total of 11 hours and 43 minutes on the courts of Wimbledon – this is taking into account three qualifying matches. By simple calculations, you can find out that in one minute of playing tennis the girl earned 12.8 thousand rubles. For comparison: the modal salary (the one that occurs most often) in Andreeva’s native Krasnoyarsk is 40 thousand. Thus, Mirra received the monthly salary of an average countryman in just over three minutes!

The shortest match at Wimbledon with Barbora Kreichikova, which ended 61 minutes after it started, made Andreeva richer by 780 thousand rubles. In the longest with Xiyu Wang (its length is 145 minutes), the Russian woman earned 1.85 million rubles.

Richer than champions and showmen

This is not the only case when Mirra Andreeva received millions in a few days.

Participation in Roland Garros at the end of May brought her 142 thousand euros. After deducting the 41 percent tax (France also uses a progressive scale), she had a little less than 83 thousand euros left, and after settlement with all interested parties – about 56 thousand. At the current exchange rate, this is about 5.6 million rubles. Mirra earned this money in six matches: three qualifying and three in the main draw.

Andreeva’s first serious public appearance was the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid in April. There, for four matches, Andreeva earned almost 85 thousand euros, and she was paid about 47 thousand net. Let’s take into account the cost of the team and get about 33 thousand euros, which is about 3.3 million rubles.

In fact, in two months Mirra Andreeva earned 18 million rubles net. Nine million a month – even Olympic champions and top showmen do not have such a salary in their native Krasnoyarsk. Could a talented tennis player have thought about this two or three years ago?
