“Medvedev shows great tennis. Success on grass was a matter of time” – Vesnina

Russian Daniil Medvedev deserved to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, said Olympic champion, Grand Slam winner in doubles Elena Vesnina.

On Monday, Medvedev advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament after the Czech Jiri Legechka refused to continue the fourth round meeting due to injury.

– Of course, everyone is waiting for the success of Medvedev after two not very successful Grand Slam tournaments. Danya is a very high level tennis player, he deserves to be in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. This season he shows just gorgeous tennis. His success on grass was a matter of time. It always seemed to me that this particular coating should suit him the most. But it happens that professional players only after a few years adapt to the grass. Medvedev is gaining from match to match! It is very good that Daniel saved his strength. Let’s hope that Danya will reach his first Wimbledon semi-final, – said Vesnina “Championship”.

In the quarterfinals, Medvedev will face American Christopher Eubanks. For the first time in his career, the Russian reached this stage of Wimbledon.
