Marketa VONDROUSZOVA: “It’s amazing that I can hold this trophy”

Czech tennis player Marketa Vondrousova (WTA number 42) shared her feelings about the victory over Ounce Jaber (6:4, 6:4) in the final of the Wimbledon tournament.

“I don’t know what’s going on. It’s a great feeling. Ounce, congratulations, you’re a huge inspiration to all of us. I hope you win one day. You’re a great person. After what I’ve been through – I was cast in a cast last year – it’s amazing that I can stand here and hold this trophy in my hands. It’s never easy to go back.” It’s not, you don’t know what to expect. I was hoping I could get back to that level. And now these things are happening.

Will I get a tattoo to commemorate my victory? I don’t know, but I had an argument with my coach. He said that if I won the tournament, he would do the same himself. So, I guess we’re going to go do that tomorrow!” admitted Vondrousova.

The victory of Marketa Vondrousova will make her the 10th racket in the world in the updated ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association.
