Goff becomes the first US Open women’s finalist

The sixth racket of the world, Coco Goff of the USA, competed with Karolina Muchova from the Czech Republic (WTA number 10) in the US Open 1/2 final.

The encounter between the American and the Czech lasted 1 hour and 57 minutes. Goff won in straight sets.

This was the rivals’ second encounter in history, and Goff was defeated again.

Goff, 19, became the youngest American woman to reach the home grand finals since 1999, when 17-year-old Serena Williams won the title. We also remember that last season Goff made it to the finals at Roland Garros.

In the US Open 2023 final, Goff will play against Madison Keys (No. 17 WTA) or Arina Sobolenko (No. 2 WTA).

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (WTA 12) made a successful start to the Australian Open 2026 by beating the Spanish representative Kristina Buksha (WTA 51).

After the match, Elina published a message on her Instagram page describing her victory in one word: “Beautiful 🔥”, she wrote, and added a few photos from the match to the post.

In the next round of the competition, Svitolina will play the winner of the double between Linda Klimovicheva (WTA 134) and Francesca Jones (WTA 69).

Earlier, Elina talked about Gael Monfils’ important role in her success earlier this season, talking about her victory over Kristina Buksha.
