Pivovarova told what Rublev lacked in the match with Medvedev

Former junior world number two Anastasia Pivovarova believes that Russian Andrei Rublev did not play consistently enough in the quarterfinals of the US Open against compatriot Daniil Medvedev and could not withstand the difficult conditions in which the game took place.

On Thursday night, Medvedev defeated Rublev in the quarterfinals of the US Open with a score of 6:4, 6:3, 6:4. During the match, Medvedev complained that the organizers did not open the roof of the arena, despite the high temperature.

– Rublev won back match points, but it was all in the balance that it seemed that even if he won back all match points and won this game, he would not be enough for two more games. Both of them could barely stand on their feet, and Rublev did not have the patience and strength to fight further. He was so emaciated that he did doubles, it was clear that he had poor body control. He simply did not have the physical capacity and patience to overcome such harsh climatic conditions and Dani’s stable game.

Yes, in the third set he made several breaks, and then, unfortunately, he lost his serve again quite easily. There were many unforced errors. It’s a shame, because he fought on Medvedev’s serve, and then made simple mistakes on his own. Apparently, he did not have enough endurance to play exactly the entire match to take at least a set from Dani, – Gazeta.ru quotes Pivovarov.

In the semi-finals, Medvedev will play with the first racket of the world Spaniard Carlos Alcaras, the meeting will be held on Friday.
