Many were rooting against Daniil, but now even Alcaraz fans are congratulating the Russian.
On Saturday night, Daniil Medvedev played in the semifinals of the US Open with the strongest tennis player on the planet and the main favorite of the prestigious tournament – Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. The Russian’s chances of success were not assessed very highly, but this did not stop him from winning and delighting tennis fans.
Now even Alcaraz fans congratulate Daniil.
“Maddy’s Back”
In the semifinals of the US Open, Daniil Medvedev had to play against world number one Carlos Alcaraz. The bookmakers did not believe in the victory of our athlete, and during the match the American spectators actively cheered against him. Even many Russian fans, to be honest, considered his reaching the finals unlikely. However, the Russian wiped the nose of skeptics and ill-wishers, defeating a formidable opponent in four sets in a brilliant manner. And at the same time he made tennis fans on both sides of the ocean admire his game:
— Medvedev is a great player. It’s so sad to see that the media doesn’t pay attention to him and only talks about Alcaraz. The press was confident that Alcaraz would play against Djokovic in the final. Now eat this – Meddy is back. Don’t forget guys that he has already been to several finals and won one of the Grand Slam tournaments.
