World No. 1 Swiatek fails to reach final of tennis tournament at 2024 Olympics in Paris

World number one Iga Swiatek suffered a defeat in the semi-finals of the Olympic tournament in Paris in singles.

The Polish tennis player, who received the first seed, lost to the Chinese Zheng Qingwen (the 6th seed) in the semi-finals with a score of 2:6, 5:7. The match lasted 1 hour and 51 minutes.

For gold at the Games in Paris, Zheng Qingwen will compete with the winner of the pair Anna-Karolina Schmidlova (Slovakia) – Donna Vekic (Croatia, 13).
