The 1/4 final of the challenging tournament took place on January 9 WTA 500 in Brisbane (Australia) and four semi-finalists were determined.

With the Ukrainians in the first round Makoto Ninomiya (Japan) defeated Chan Hao-Ching (Chinese Taipei) / Jiang Xinyu (China) in two sets in 1 hour 38 minutes.
