Norway 0-3 Greece: The women’s national team seals their appearance at the European Championships
The women’s national volleyball team beat Norway 3-0 in sets, sealing their presence at the 2023 European Championships.
The women’s national team qualified for a European Championship for the third time in a row and for the seventh time in their history. The ‘Blue and Whites’ easily won with a 3-0 set in Norway, making the 4X4 into the 6th qualifying group and securing qualification for the final of Eurovolley 2023 two games before the final of the games.
In the first set, the initial 1-2 turned into a 1-15 for our national team, which caused a lot of problems in reception in Norway with server Olga Strandzali (she had 3 aces in that time), who was struggling with his attacks and the Finishing blue and white athletes with good block defense made a 12-0 run. The set ended 07-25 with an attack from national team captain Olga Strandzalis.
Our national team started the second set with a 0:11 series with Lambrini Konstantinidou on serve. Norway couldn’t develop the ball in attack, our national team was effective at the net and on the counterattack. The set ended easily at 11:25.
In the third set, the national team’s athletes relaxed and gave Norway the opportunity to lead three times +4 (8-4, 10-6, 13-9), which forced Marcelo Abondanza to take a time-out. Gradually, Greece rose again to equalize with a block from Stamatia Kyparissi (15:15). With their attack we took the lead (15-16) to reach 20-25 for the final 0-3.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Lokomotiv volleyball players beat MSTU in a Russian championship match
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Moscow MSTU in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in Moscow ended with a score of 3–2 (25:21, 20:25, 25:23, 23:25, 15:10) in favor of the guests.
Lokomotiv scored 44 points and ranks second in the Super League standings, MSTU (6 points) is 16th.
In other matches of the day, the Gazprom-Ugra club beat Dynamo-Ural from Ufa at home (3–0, 26:24, 28:26, 25:21), Nizhny Novgorod Gorky lost away to Orenburg (0–3, 28:30, 11:25, 25:27), Belogorye took victory over Yaroslavich in Tula (3–0, 25:17, 25:15, 25:22).
In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
