“I believe that everything will change and the Russian national volleyball teams will play in the qualification for the Olympic Games-2024” – European champion Fomin

The 1991 European volleyball champion Dmitry Fomin assessed the chances of the Russian men’s and women’s national teams to play in the qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Earlier it became known that the men’s and women’s teams of Russia will not play in the qualifying tournament of the 2024 Games due to suspension from international competitions. Relevant information appeared on the website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

– You have to believe in the best. Of course, I believe that everything will change and we will play this qualification. Because it’s a shame to miss the World Cup, and then get a non-admission to the Olympic qualification. We can fight, Russia is one of the strongest teams that can make the fight more interesting. She claims to be on a pedestal, and she should not be allowed … We suffer, of course. There, people rely on a certain logic, but we all suffer, and, in particular, volleyball, – Gazeta.Ru quotes Fomin.

In February, the IOC recommended not allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete due to the situation in Ukraine. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) followed the recommendations of the IOC in March.

The Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
