Panathinaikos – PAOK 3-1: The first derby of the year is underway
Panathinaikos prevailed 3-1 in the set of PAOK in Marousi, with Hernandez and Kovar being the protagonists, making it 2/2 in the Men’s Volley League.
The first derby of the year in the Men’s Volley League went to Panathinaikos, who beat PAOK 3-1 in a set in Marousi.
The Greens, despite not having the public on their side (the game took place behind closed doors) and without Zisi in their composition, managed to achieve victory, with a clear three points.
Of particular note is Xenophons Grumousa, who started for the second year in a row and showed a decent presence. Offensively, Hernandez (22 points) was the one who completed crucial balls with the help of Kovar (17 points) and Fragos (16 points).
The match: PAOK came into play better and extended a four-point lead to 6-10 with serve from Raptis. There Panathinaikos managed to concede the difference with the performance of Jacobsen and overtake with a partial 5:0 with 12:11.
From then on, the greens maintained a slight difference up to 22-22. There, Takouridis gave PAOK the lead and the double-header earned first place in a bowl set. PAOK had a total of six chances to close the set and failed, on the contrary, Panathinaikos managed to close the set 31-29 on his first chance with an attack from Hernandez and a block from Rangel.
In the second set, Panathinaikos was able to pull away by two points at halftime (17-15), but Alexandros Raptis’ serves turned the tide, PAOK taking a 17-19 lead. Eventually, Dicephalos’ players managed to finish the set at 23-25 with Yorna.
The third set had a different image than the previous ones as Panathinaikos managed to build a five point lead from the start and then didn’t struggle with the 2-1 set.
PAOK, using his service as a weapon, managed to get away with four 14-18 in the middle of the set, but the green players with base managed to level the set. In the final, Panathinaikos’ effectiveness at the net did the talking, giving them the win.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.
