The association warmly thanks Serbian coach Branko Gaits for putting his stamp on Panathinaikos in the remaining time.
He was instrumental in last year’s championship title and leaves the team on master class in all 32 Challenge Cup teams.
From then on, Panathinaikos has always strived for the top and the best in every institution it competes in and it is in this context that one of Greece’s leading coaches, Yiannis Kalmazidis, comes to the department.
This is one of the great personalities of domestic volleyball, having competed as an athlete in the following teams:
1978-1989 Solentuna (Sweden)
1989-1992 Orestiada
1992-1994 Esperos

1999-2001 Hercules
2001-2003 Mars
2003-2007 Hercules
His coaching career looks like this:
2007-2008 Heraklis (2nd Coach)
2008-2010 Olympiacos (2nd coach)
2010-2012 Olympiacos
2012-2016 Women’s National Team
2013-2014 Panathinaikos
2014-2017 PAOK
2017-2018 Omonia (Cyprus)
2018-2019 Cheka (Lebanon)
2020-2021 Saaremaa (Estonia)
2021-2022 PAOK
As a coach he has won six leagues, three cups and two super cups with Olympiakos, Iraklis and PAOKL and he aspires to do the same with Panathinaikos.
In a statement on www.pao1908.com, he said: “I am very happy to be working again at a club as big as Panathinaikos, this time for the women’s section.
This collaboration is a very big challenge for me. I know women’s volleyball and I’ve been on the national team and I think there’s a lot of room for improvement in Greece.
Panathinaikos has shown in recent years that it is very strong, after all it is also a champion.
We know it’s hard to stay at the top, but it doesn’t stress me, it excites me. From now on we see everything in the stadium. I know quite a few gymnasts because we’ve worked together and I think there’s a good group that I’ll try to contribute to to get even more momentum.”
