Olympiacos – Kifissia 3-0: Easy three points with a star for the red and white
With a solid performance from Toncek Stern, Olympiacos won 3-0 sets against Kifissia to remain at the top of the men’s volley league.
Starring Toncek Stern, Olympiacos defeated AOP Kifisias by a 3-0 set in the game that opened Round 7 of the Men’s Volley League Championship to lead the Volley League Championship race with 18 points. Stern scored 23 points (17/26 reps, 1 block, 5 aces). Chandrinos played in Hidalgo’s place as a key winger in the third set.
Kifissia competed without Grigoris Kontostathis and Ricardo, who have a virus and high fever. Giannis Kosmas played as libero and made a positive impression. Papadopoulos played in place of Ricardo as a key winger.
In the first set of the game, Olympiacos pressed from 9 meters and took a 8-4 lead with two aces from Payenk. Kifisia reacted and shortened it to 8-6 with Maikon’s block, but then the red-white “injured” the reception of the guests and got a clear difference to the 16-10.
Kostas Christofidelis’ players improved their performance, “gnawing” the difference and reducing it to 21-17, while a block from Cheivres and a smart place from Oksanovic also made it -2 (21-19). Despite Olympiacos being under pressure, he retained the lead and reached a triple bowl set with Hidalgo 24-21, which the home side finished with a counterattack by Dallakouras 25-21.
It was the home side who started better in the second set and took a 5-2 lead, but Kifisia recovered to equalize 5-5 after Okosanovic’s impressive block against Hidalgo. The Red-Whites, showing determination at net, retook the lead and even went 12-7 on consecutive points from Dallakouras. Olympiacos with consecutive points went 20-11, Kifisia with Siimitra and Maikon on serve reached 24-19 and Stern finished the set 25-19.
The picture of the game didn’t change in the 3rd set either, Olympiakos had…superpowers and took an early 5-1 lead with Stern’s powerful serves. The northern suburbs team temporarily fell 6-4, but Dallacura’s winning block opened the gap again to 10-5. A charge from Okosanovic drew Kifissia closer to 12-9, but after some time Payenk increased to 14-9.
The “Blue-Whites” showed “stubbornness” and returned to the set win with a 16:14 reduction with a counterattack from Okosanovic and a block from Maikon, while in the set development they gained a “breathing” distance with a place from Chevers 17 -16 The decisive factor in the final outcome of the match was Chandrinos’ successful block which gave Olympiacos a lead of 20-17.Kifisia couldn’t come back as Olympiakos won the set with consecutive aces from Stern 25-18.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).
In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.
