Challenge Cup: Olympiakos in the 8th round, qualification despite losing 2:3 sets against Burgas
Olympiacos lost 3-2 to Burgas in Bulgaria but secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup with a 3-0 first-leg win.
Olympiacos qualified for the 8th round of the Challenge Cup. However, the Red and Whites lost to Burgas 3-2 sets with a gun 3-0 in the first match they clinched the qualifier.
Olympiakos’ goal in the game against Burgas was clear. The Red-Whites went to Bulgaria to win two sets to seal their spot in the quarterfinals challenge cup.
This happened in the first two. In the first set Olympiacos led 14-9 but Burgas equalized and led 24-23 25-24 26-25 27-26 but Olympiacos with a point from Koumendakis, one from Stern and one from Hidalgo made it 29- 27 after Koumendakis spoiled the reception for the Bulgarians.
In the second set, after a tough rally and a close result, Olympiacos escaped 24-22 with attacks from Koumendakis and Stern. Chavdarov cut the lead to 23-24 with a block, but Dimosthenis Linardos made it 25-23 with a block, earning his team qualification.
Somehow the red-whites ended the qualification and the rest of the game became a formality.
Olympiacos will know their opponent on Thursday 15 December. In the quarter-finals he meets either the Romanian Steaua Bucharest or the Israeli Hapoel Mate Asher Ako. In the first game, Hapoel won 3:2 (19:25, 15:25, 25:23, 25:19, 15:13) and in the second leg, which took place on Thursday, December 15th. takes place, everything is open.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
