Panathinaikos – Nantes 3:1: Great victory for the Greens, qualification for the round of 16 of the CEV Cup
Panathinaikos put in an excellent performance, defeating French leaders Nantes 3-1 and securing the lead in qualifying for the “16” of the CEV Cup.
Before the game started, the Panathinaikos women’s volleyball team seemed extremely difficult to play against Nantes.
However, Yiannis Kalmazidis and his players won 3:1 sets against the French leaders Nantes and thus secured a qualifying lead for the “16” of the CEV Cup.
In fact, the French won the first set, which was ultimately decided 25-23. But then Panathinaikos dominated and got the next ones with 25-18, 25-19 and 25-17.
Next Tuesday (December 20th) Panathinaikos needs two sets to qualify against an excellent team. Of course, the Shamrock Girls’ task won’t be easy, but with a performance like that of the first match, they can complete the traverse.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
