Men’s Volleyball League: Olympiakos defeated fighter Milonas and closed their gap to the top
Olympiacos defeated fighter Milonas 3-0 to set the top of the men’s volleyball league on fire.
Olympiakos struggled but defeated Milonas unbeaten in Nea Smyrni, got the substance they wanted and went into the home stretch of the derby with PAOK, where they narrowly missed a point. Olympiacos has 14 points, PAOK has 15 and champion Panathinaikos has 16 points.
The protagonists of Olympiakos were Payenk and Tepan, who remained unbeaten in the net in the final of all three sets. The two sides will meet again for the trophy on Wednesday, albeit at Renti’s Melina Mercouri.
In the first set, Olympiakos rested with the hosts’ mistakes and led 10:6. Milonas gnawed at the difference until he tied with Chandrinos at 19:19. Michalovic and Payenk made it 21-19, Olympiakos kept the +2 and made a 1-0 set with two points from Tepan to 25-23.
In the 2nd set with a series of 4:0 through the block of Payenk, Peric, Tepan, Olympiakos led 13:9. He kept the lead until the end despite pressure from Milonas and Tepan with two points finished the set 25-22.
In the 3rd set, Milonas led 11-10 with Brian, but with a 3-0 streak again thanks to the block, Olympiakos passed 13-11, retained the lead and the match ended with a point from Payenk for 25-23.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
