Thetis – AO Thiras 1-3: Santorini team again in the cup final
With pluralism in attack, AO Thira prevailed against Thetida with 3:1 sets and again qualified for the cup final in women’s volleyball.
AO Thiras will be Panathinaikos’ opponent in the women’s volleyball cup final. Santorini’s team edged out fighter Thetida Voula 3-1 after a full game.
The game started impressively, both teams went point by point. Thetida, starring Anthouli, was in front of goal while AO passed Thiras in the middle to lead 16-18.
It was then that Maria Apostolaki, with her services, changed the dates of the set. When he left there, Thetis was 22-19 ahead and then reached 24-19.
Then we had a new reversal of the scene with the services of Lamprini Konstantinidou who spoiled Thetida’s reception and erased all the club’s shell sets from Voula. The set went into overtime where AO Thiras completed the fall and won it 28-26.
In the second set, Santorini’s team took the lead from the start and despite Thetida’s efforts, Papadopoulos’ players managed to clear the set 25-19, taking the sets to 2-0.
The image of the second set was inversely proportional. Thetis with a service weapon initially managed an 11-8 lead. Then, as Anthouli scored consecutive aces, the difference reached 19-9, and Rousis’ players eventually reduced to 2-1 to win the set 25-17.
Thetis had returned to the match, but early in the fourth set, AO Thira led 1-6 (ace Konstantinidou) and reached 3-10 (via Dragoumanou). At 7-12, Thetis ran a 3-0 run to 10-12 to follow a terrible rally that ended in favor of AOTH, whose block was working exceptionally well on opponent balls at the time (11-14, 12-15 ) 12-16 with an attack from Abbott.
Akta’s misplacement resulted in a 14-19, making Thetida’s task even harder as AOT made it 17-23 in the match bowl with an ace from Goltsi and a lost serve from Akta. Peralta erased the first but the new lost serve gave the Santorini team the win and qualification.
