Men’s Pre League: Kalamata 80 was promoted to the Volley League and defeated Kerkis 3-1
Kalamata 80 won a 3-1 set against Kerkis Samos to secure promotion to the Men’s Volley League.
The second ticket to the Volley League went to Kalamata 80, who doubled their win over Samos in the Men’s Pre League promotion finals with a 3-1 set win in Paralia’s indoor match against Kerkis.
Kalamata 80 has achieved what it failed to do last year and will compete in the men’s volleyball division for the first time in its history.
In the crowded Paralia indoor stadium in Kalamata, Panagiotis Dakouris’ team managed for the second time to beat the brave Kerkis Samou, who will return next year to claim promotion.
Kalamata 80 won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-18, but Kerkis Samou didn’t give up and cut sets to 2-1 and won the third 22-25.
In the fourth set, Kalamata’s Brazilian winger Maurizio Vieto awkwardly landed on his left knee after an attack at 22-20 and went down. The hosts reached the bowl match with a score of 24:21, Kerkis reduced to one point (24:23), but in the next stage Argentina’s diagonal from Kalamata Rodrigo Ocampo won the block and gave his team victory and promotion .

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
