Kifissia – PAOK 0-3: Comfortable passage for Dikefalos from Zirineio
PAOK easily defeated Kifissia 3-0 and overtook Finikas in the men’s Volley League standings.
With speed gained by the Cup Final-4 in Glyfada, PAOK overtook Kifissia in 64 minutes and clinched the third victory in the second phase of the championship, which increased it to 21 points.
PAOK was organized in reception and attack and even in the 1st set, where Kifissia had a small advantage, he managed to find solutions and claim the win. In the third set, Gatsis, Sotiriou took the place of Brown and Koumentaki.
In the first set of the game, Kifissia started better than PAOK, leading 6-4 with “Spearhead” Paleologos and Linardos’ ace. The biceps responded immediately, using Brown’s serve and powerful block to push a series to 3-0 and go 7-6.
Kifissia was persistent and with a block by Paleologos on Barnes he regained the reins 10-9. The ambiguous match continued as PAOK found consecutive points from Petreas-Aces and “built” a four-point difference 14-10 with a block from Brown.
The Athenians increased the pressure on the serve, reducing to 14:12 after Barnes-Aus, but the guests led 18:13 with a counterattack from Udris and a block from Walsh. The guests continued to “gas down” and achieved a set of eight bowls 24-16 with Koumentakis and bans, which Petreas blocked with 25-16.
PAOK was the one who started the second set strong, finding himself in a “driver’s position” early on by having his cross instead of serve. Then Linardos defeated Brown at the net to put Kifissia within “breathing distance” 4-3. The “Black and Whites” pushing with the serve “hurt” the reception of the hosts and achieved a double score of 10:5 with a block from Petreas. The superiority of the cup winners continued with a double-digit 17:7 difference and a 25:11 end of the set after an error by Ambrao.
Giannis Orfanos’ players in the 3rd set started with passion and took a 4-2 lead through a game by Kotsakis. In fact, the “Blue-Whites” took a four-point lead with an ace by De Vier, 8:4. The Biceps, running a series of 3-0, approached 8-7 with Michali getting his team out of the difficult rotation.
However, the Thessalonians continued to push for the reception of the “Blue-Whites” and overtook 10:9 after a block by Sotirios. PAOK’s block then did a good job of “covering the net” with the biceps making a 17-10 safety margin. Kifissia responded with a reduction to 20-16, but PAOK had the necessary solutions and ended the set with a Boutos attack to 25-19.
