Volley League: Back to the wins for Finikas, defeated Kifissia 3-0

Finikas defeated Kifissia 3-0 to return to wins and climb to third place in the second phase of the men’s volleyball league.

AO Finikas ONEX returned to the wins and kept his title hopes alive with the 3-0 set against Kifissia in a match that ended the 7th match.

The Syros team once again overtook the 3rd place in the ranking and is -5 ahead of the champions Panathinaikos and -3 ahead of Olympiakos with 23 points. In the remaining three rounds, Finikas will face Milonas in Nea Smyrni, PAOK in Syros and Panathinaikos in Maroussi in the final match.

Kifissia started the first set impressively despite the absences, finding points from Costopoulos and Kotsakis and leading 5-2. Finika’s ONEX with a star on serve and Juric’s block equalized 5-5, but the Athens team “reacted” immediately and finding of points from the block again took “air” from three points 9-6.

The hosts reacted and pressed the reception of the “Blue and Whites”, who scored points in a row. So they entered the “driver’s position” for the first time after an out attack by Linardos in the set 12-11. With another “Kifissian” error, this time from Ambrao, and consecutive blocks from Juric and Jerezuelo, the “Pirates” took a solid 17-13 lead.

The hosts with the ace of Jerezuelo led 21-15, but Kifissia with Papadopoulos in service led a 4-0 series and reduced 21-19. In fact, in the best part of the set, Costopoulos put Kifissia at a “breathing” distance of 22-21 with a blockout won. Stern attacked and gave Finikas a double set of bowls at 24-22, and eventually Finikas won 25-22 after touching Costopoulos’ net.

Finikas took the lead early in the second set with two points 6:4 and 8:6. Michali and Costopoulos gave Kifissia vital points, who equalized 10-10 with a block won by Kotsakis.

The ambiguous game continued with the two teams going hand in hand until the 14-14. The hosts went +2, 16-14 in attack after a slight mistake by Michali. In the development of the set, ούuriτς’s blocks in Ambrao and Costopoulos and Michalovi’s opponent brought κ Finika up to 22-15. The Syros team stayed ahead and won the set 25-18 after a “kissy” error on serve.

In the third set of the match, Juric won “fights” at the net and gave Finikas a 6-4 lead. Kifissia, with the ace from Linardos, first separated 6-6, while a little later they passed 8-7 after a mistake by Stern. Kifissia continued to have a good rhythm and a block from Michali increased the difference to 10-8. However, Finikas again found points from the block and took back the reins with a 3:0 series to 11:10.

The sentence continued to remain ambiguous, with the two teams taking turns at the top. Foinikas took advantage of some mistakes made by the guests and led 18:16 after a miss by Michali. Crucial to the outcome of the set was Papagelopoulos who, from his position of service, ‘hurt’ the former team giving Finikas 6 chances to finish the game 24-18. Finally, Finikas finished the set 25-19 with Michalovic.
