Olympiacos 3-0 Aris: One step away from the final, the Reds and Whites
Olympiacos prevailed 3-0 despite pressure in two sets on Mars and are one win away from qualifying for the Women’s Volley League final.
The first step towards qualifying for the finals of the championship was made by the Olympiacos women’s volleyball team. The Red and Whites prevailed 3-0 sets and want to reach the final of the Volley League with another win.
The Parisian players were in control throughout the match, earning their 16th consecutive LaLiga win. Top scorer for Carlo Paris’ team was Saskia Hippe with 18 points, followed by Salas with 13 points.
The game: At the start of the game, Olympiakos were 8-5 behind Aris but gradually reduced and equalized with Salas to 10-10 while leading 13-11 thanks to an attack from Costa. Aris prevailed again with a series of 3:0 for 16:14.
The “Red-Whites” responded and closed the game with an ace from Emmanouilidou (18-18) while going +2 (22-20) with an out attack from the visitors. Aris equalized at 22-22 but with Hippe attacking, Olympiakos made it 23-22, Mercado hit 24-22 and Giota made the 1-0 set 25-22 with a block.
Derby was the second set with several variations in the score, but always both teams found the solutions to stay close to the score. With the score at 21:21, two attacks by Emmanouilidou and Hipe, the result became 23:21 in favor of Olympiacos and took first place in the set bowl (24:22), despite Aris reducing the score (24:23) . Mercado in counterattack marked the 25:23 and the 2:0 set.
With the result and the psychology on his part, Olympiakos led from the beginning of the third set (5:2), a difference that Aris could not reduce to the final 3:0 set with 25:19.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Lokomotiv volleyball players beat MSTU in a Russian championship match
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Moscow MSTU in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in Moscow ended with a score of 3–2 (25:21, 20:25, 25:23, 23:25, 15:10) in favor of the guests.
Lokomotiv scored 44 points and ranks second in the Super League standings, MSTU (6 points) is 16th.
In other matches of the day, the Gazprom-Ugra club beat Dynamo-Ural from Ufa at home (3–0, 26:24, 28:26, 25:21), Nizhny Novgorod Gorky lost away to Orenburg (0–3, 28:30, 11:25, 25:27), Belogorye took victory over Yaroslavich in Tula (3–0, 25:17, 25:15, 25:22).
In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
