Olympiakos – Panathinaikos 1-3: The Greens are champions in Rentis

Panathinaikos defeated Olympiakos 3-1 at “Melina Mercouri” to win the Men’s Volley League championship.

Panathinaikos celebrated their second men’s volleyball title in three years after beating Olympiakos 3-1 in a set in Renti.

The greens were more stable throughout the game, they had more pluralism on offense with Jacobsen dividing the game very well, and they achieved the win fairly fairly.

On the other hand, on a bad day, Olympiakos again had key players and despite the fact that they featured in all sets, they failed to get anything out of the game.

Certainly the key to the development of the game was Panathinaikos’ fall in the first set as Andreopoulos’ players celebrated their 21-16 victory.

The game: The two teams went hand in hand for the most part in the first set. More precisely, until 14-14. At that point, Miguelovic’s serve tipped the scales in Olympiacos’ favour. The Reds and Whites got away with five 19-14 and maintained that lead to 21-16.

Protopsaltis changed the flow of the set with his serves, with the Greens first putting the set on point (22-21) and then Raptis’ serves giving Andreopoulos’ players the lead (23-24). The first set was decided in overtime and Panathinaikos made it 1-0 after five bowl sets to win 29-27.

The Greens pulled away 7-4 in the second set, but Olympiakos immediately tied the set to a draw. From there, the two teams progressed point by point through to the final. The greens were cooler there, making it 2-0 at 25-23.

In the third set, Olympiacos was the one who stepped into the driver’s role. Panathinaikos didn’t let him escape and so the two teams reached the home stretch with the smallest possible difference. In the end, the red and white celebrated with 25:23.

The red and white came into the fourth set strongly and led 4:1. However, the Greens reacted quickly, collecting the difference and building their own, going 21-25 to seal the title for Panathinaikos.
