PAOK – Panathinaikos 2-3: The shamrock has closed its place in the final
Panathinaikos defeated PAOK in Thessaloniki in a nice match 3-2 sets, doubling their wins and qualifying for the final of the Women’s Volley League and waiting for Olympiakos or Aris.
Panathinaikos is the first team to reach the final of the Women’s Volley League after beating PAOK 3-2 sets (25-21, 25-23, 25-15, 12-15) in Thessaloniki doubled his victories and qualified for the finals of the championship.
There she meets Olympiakos or Aris 1-0 for the “red-whites”. The shamrock was twice behind in the score but eventually made it in the tie break, with Cross leading to victory and dominance.
Panathinaikos returned to the league final after seven years and has a chance to win the league and reach the double after the cup.
The game
The first two sets were almost identical but with different protagonists.
In the first, after an ambiguous start with successive changes in scores, PAOK turned from 7-8 to 12-8 with Li Da on serve, the difference steadily growing (18-10) to easily become 1-0.
Panathinaikos’ response came in the 2nd set when the Greens scored a significant difference with “Guten Morgen” (1-3, 3-9, 5-13), while PAOK closed in on 9-14 but immediately accepted a new series (9-18). just as easy to get to 1:1.
In the third set there was a big fight with PAOK (Klepkou started instead of Fidon) to turn 10-9 into 14-10 and reach +5 (17-12), but the loss to Kojiar put Papafotiou on serve and to goal at 17-17, with the greens overtaking 18-19 and holding the lead to 22-23. There, Tsioga stopped in the block against Hadava to follow Grotesha’s out (24-23) and PAOK to finally close the set at 27-25 with a block from Polynopopoulou in Hadava.
In the fourth set, which looked ambiguous up to 6-8, the Greens reacted again but Panathinaikos quickly escaped 6-12 without PAOK ever threatening a loosely formed 13-25 in the tiebreak.
There PAOK started better and led 3-1 and even had a counterattack to increase the gap but twice lost the opportunity to lead Panathinaikos 0-4 to 3-5 to go 4-7 (crossing attack after poor reception) to get away. PAOK responded at 5-8 and with Kojiar on serve Grothes was 9-8 ahead to take action that leveled to 9-9 and PAO regained the lead after an incredible defense from Konstantinos while the Greens got to 10 – 12 after an out attack by Kojiar. With a counterattack from Konstantinos, PAO achieved a triple-match bowl, with Grotesht losing the first chance (a block by Polynopoulou) but not the second, sending PAO through to the finals.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
