Challenge Cup: Historic game of Kifissia in Zirinio with Mihailovic’s Galatasaray
For the first time in its history, Kifisia will play a European Cup match and host Mihailovic’s Galatasaray in Zirinio (22/11, 7:00 p.m.).
The AOP Kifisias’ maiden voyage in the European Cup and the Challenge Cup starts on Wednesday (November 22nd, 7:00 p.m.) in Zirinio against the Turkish Galatasaray of the Serbian Nikola Mihailovic.
The goal is a good performance and a first European win against a team that is at the top of the Turkish league and is aiming high in this year’s Challenge Cup.
AOP Kifissia coach Kostas Christofidelis explained: “We are pleased that our first historic participation in the Challenge Cup took place. We are optimistic and preparing for a game with high demand. We know the potential of Galatasaray, a historic club.
It has top-class players who can boast performances from the top leagues. The game in Zirinio is a first-class opportunity for our fans and volleyball friends to enjoy a strong game. We want the fans next to us to cheer us on even more during the game.”.
Galatasaray’s Serbian Nikola Mihajlovic said, as always, cheerful and smiling: “I am happy to return to Greece. Everyone knows that it is my second home and I am thinking about my future here. As for the game with Kifissia, I believe we have the first reason to win and qualify.”

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
