The former Lokomotiv volleyball coach explained why the team lost the Super League final

Former coach of the Lokomotiv women’s volleyball club Radoslav Arsov spoke about the reasons for his team’s defeat in the final of the Super League of the 2023/2024 season.
In the final series of the Russian Championship, the Kaliningrad team lost to Kazan Dynamo-Ak Bars (2–3).
— “Dynamo-Ak Bars” is a tough team. It’s a pity that we lost the tiebreaker in the first game. But in sports it happens that it doesn’t always work out the way we would like. There were match points during the fourth game. But it turned out that we were simply either unlucky or made the wrong decision. This is still a lack of experience; there is a lot of youth in our team. And after that we had a psychological shock. I saw all the girls’ emotions, how upset they were and how worried they were. Internally, I wanted to believe and believed that we could. But I also knew that it would be very, very difficult in Kazan.
And we still went there to fight. There again, youth and experience, which we lack, had an effect. They began to make mistakes in moments where they shouldn’t. We had to do our job in the situations that were in our hands. We lost the first game, and that was it: there was no more strength or emotion. In the decisive game, we had no arguments, although the girls did everything possible,” “Championship” quotes Arsov as saying.
Bulgarian Arsov left the post of head coach of the women’s volleyball club Lokomotiv after the end of the season. He made this decision for family reasons.

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.
The final match will take place on December 26.
