Olympic champion Taras Htay believes that coach Daniele Bagnoli could bring many more benefits to world volleyball.
On Saturday it became known about the death of Bagnoli, he was 71 years old. The cause of death of the specialist is not known. Italian media note that the coach was ill for a long time.
— We worked very closely and fruitfully in the national team with Daniele Bagnoli. Unfortunately, in 2010 I was injured and we had a good chance of winning the World League against Brazil. We prepared well for the World Cup, but we stumbled a little there.
Bagnoli was a very wise and intelligent man. He understood volleyball very subtly and won many titles, both in Italy and in Russia, and at the national team level. I think he was an outstanding coach. Personally, as a player, I felt comfortable working with him in the gym, on the team and off the court. Unfortunately, he was ill for a long time, recently felt unwell and eventually passed away.
I offer my condolences to family, friends and the entire world of volleyball, which has lost a specialist. He could still bring a lot of benefit to volleyball, but, unfortunately, he passed away at just 71 years old,” RB Sport quotes Khtey as saying.
Bagnoli worked for the Russian men’s national team from 2009 to 2010 and led the team to silver and bronze medals in the World League. The Italian also served as head coach at Dynamo Moscow (2007–2009), winning the Russian Championship, Russian Cup and National Super Cup with the team.
