Arina Fedorovtseva is one of the main stars of world volleyball right now, but even this status did not save the Russian woman from a difficult financial situation. The titled athlete was simply deceived by the unscrupulous leaders of the foreign team.

By the age of 20, Arina had managed to accumulate a huge collection of awards at the adult level, both individual and team. For example, in 2021, still underage Fedorovtseva was included in the list of the best volleyball players in the world. The skill of the young athlete delighted both experts and people who were simply not indifferent to this sport.

“Arina is the most talented volleyball player of her generation and perhaps the talent of the century,” Match TV quotes Dmitry Guberniev as saying.

All the volleyball giants, including Russian ones, wanted to see the incredibly talented athlete on their roster. But Arina chose to go to Turkey, where she played for Fenerbahce for several seasons. As part of the “yellow canaries,” the Russian won the national championship twice and also won bronze medals at the Club World Championship, where she was recognized as one of the two best finishers.

In 2024, the athlete dared to make dramatic changes. She signed a contract with the Chinese team Shanghai Bright UBEST, where she was supposed to play until January 31, 2025, after which she planned to return to Fenerbahce.

– There are reasons for that. I can’t disclose all of them, but these are not only material ones, as they say on the Internet and according to rumors. My whole family and my agent made a decision. This is always a point of growth and a way out of the comfort zone,” Fedorovtseva said on the air of the program “Above Olympus. Volleyball” on “Match TV”.

“I played without any compensation”

In Shanghai, everything worked out for Arina. She played a lot, and was also popular with local residents, who simply did not give her a pass during walks. Fedorovtseva said that at least ten people could approach her one kilometer away to take a photo. Everything would have been fine, but on December 27, Arina left the team. As the Shanghai press service reported, the athlete did this without warning.

The strange justifying position of the club was initially incomprehensible, but on January 12, Fenerbahçe announced the return of the Russian, and Arina herself made a loud statement, which multiplied the release of the Shanghai press service by zero. It turns out that all this time she did not receive a salary.

“I remained silent for some time because I wanted to wait for the official decision of the FIVB before reporting any news. Now that the issue has been resolved, I can confirm that I will no longer play for the Shanghai Volleyball Club.

It has been a great honor to represent such a respected club, but Shanghai have encountered difficulties in fulfilling their contractual obligations. As a result, I found myself in a position where I played half of my contract without any compensation. With the support of my agency and legal counsel, I took the necessary steps to resolve this situation. Today, I am grateful to announce that the FIVB has approved my request for an international transfer certificate, officially releasing me from any obligations with Shanghai,” Fedorovtseva wrote on social networks.

Now Arina is determined to start a new chapter of life at Fenerbahce. The team is solving serious problems in the Turkish Championship and the Champions League. The “yellow canaries” will definitely need the help of such a star volleyball player.
