The coach of the women’s team of Italy Velasco: “The absence of Russian volleyball teams is felt”
The head coach of the Italian women’s team in volleyball, the Argentine Hulio Velasco said that the absence of Russian clubs and prefabricated at international tournaments is felt competitively.
At the moment, Russian volleyball clubs and teams have been removed from international competitions by the decision of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) due to the situation in Ukraine.
– At the female level, the Russian, Turkish and Italian clubs are stronger than all. In competitive terms, the absence of such a sports power as Russia is felt. In volleyball, this is a heavy loss, both in the male and in the female. The imposition of sanctions on Russia in a sports plan is madness, ”Velasco Liberoquotidiano quotes La Stampa.
Under the leadership of the Velasco, the Italian women’s team won gold medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.

A record attendance at the Russian volleyball championships was set at the hockey arena in Omsk
The match of the 17th round of the Women’s Super League “Omichka” – “Proton” (3:0) set an attendance record for the Russian championships, reports the press service of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation.
The match took place on Saturday in Omsk at the arena of the Avangard hockey club. The game was attended by 8,045 spectators, which became a new record for Russian volleyball championships.
The previous record belonged to St. Petersburg, where in 2018, 7,450 people were present at the match between St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit.
