Iran national volleyball player brought out of induced coma after receiving electric shock
Iranian volleyball player Saber Kazemi has been brought out of an induced coma, Teheran Times reports.
Kazemi, who recently signed a contract with Qatari club Al Rayyan and took part in the club’s training, suffered serious brain damage on Friday.
The incident occurred in the hotel pool where the team was staying. Kazemi entered the water and received a strong electric shock. After which he required urgent resuscitation.
He was immediately hospitalized and put into a coma, but he already regained consciousness. It is reported that treatment is ongoing, the 26-year-old athlete is in serious condition.

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.
