The head coach of the Kaliningrad volleyball club “Locomotive” Andrey Voronkov should be disqualified for the words spoken in the final of the women’s championship of Russia, according to Match TV commentator Dmitry Guberniev.
Voronkov, during a time-out in the game against Uralochka-NTMK, giving instructions to his players, pulled volleyball player Valeria Zaitseva aside and said: “Why are you catching this monkey again?” The phrase hit the air “Match TV”. A dark-skinned Cuban player Ailama Sese Montalvo plays for the team from the Sverdlovsk region.

Earlier, Deputy General Director of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) Mikhail Podlozny told Match TV that the disciplinary commission might consider the incident with Voronkov.

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.
