Men’s national volleyball team: George Stefanou on the coaching team
George Stefanou has been appointed to the coaching staff of the men’s national volleyball team and will travel to Kalamata to prepare for the Mediterranean Games.
Another Greek volleyball legend has joined the coaching staff of the men’s national team. After Costas Christofidelis, George Stefanou will be at her side Dante Boniface and Samuel Papi.
The corresponding announcement in detail: By decision of the Board of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, George Stefanou is the new member of the coaching staff of the men’s national team.
The former international libero joins the staff of Dante Bonifande, Samuele Papi and Costa Christofideli and will travel with the rest of the ‘blue and white’ mission to Kalamata on Monday 30 May, where preparations for the Mediterranean Games will take place.
George Stefanou returns after 231 appearances with the “Blue-Whites” with a new role in our representative band. He left active action in the summer of 2021 after winning 8 Greek Championships, 7 Cups and 5 League Cups.
“Coaching has always been on my mind. For my part, I want to convey what I have gained through sport. The federation’s president, George Karabetsos, offered me to join the national team’s coaching staff and I gladly accepted to help from another position. The presence of Christofidelis has played a role, but it has played a bigger role that I come to the team of my heart. We had great moments with the national team and we loved them all more than anything,” were George Stefanos’ first statements.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).
In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.
The final match will take place on December 26.
