Men’s Panathinaikos Volleyball: Great action with Kovar from the greens
An important step for the next season was made by the Panathinaikos men’s volleyball team, with the Greens agreeing with 33-year-old winger Giri Kovar.
Panathinaikos added an important gear to its engine in men’s volleyball. The Greens were looking for a full winger and found it in the face of Giri Kovar.
The 33-year-old winger (2.02m tall) adds many elements to the Greens’ game with an enviable record.
He started his career with Seasley Treviso, followed by Loretto, Verona before returning to Treviso. He has been driving in Civitanova since 2011, with which he has conquered everything. Among others, he has a Champions League, a CEV Cup, a Club World Cup, 6 Italian Championships, 3 Italian Cups and 2 Super Cups.
It’s a complete extreme with good service that will strengthen the greens significantly. However, the Czech native is a member of the Italian national team, having won the silver medal at the 2013 European Championships and the bronze medal at the 2013 and 2014 World Leagues.
After this move, the basic composition of Panathinaikos for the next season is essentially complete, while some small pieces remain to complete the list.
Kovar will be the duo of extremes with Frangos, while Vassilis Costopoulos will add depth to the bench. From there and beyond, the duo of centrals consists, except for the unexpected, of Petreas and Rangel, in the pass Jacobsen, Diagonal Hernandez and Libero Zisis.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
