The International Volleyball Federation must pay Russia up to 50 million euros for the deprivation of the 2022 World Cup

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) must pay Russia from 40 to 50 million euros for depriving the country of the right to host the 2022 World Cup. Vasily Konov, Deputy General Producer of Match TV, announced this on his Telegram channel.

– The FIVB is silent, as the International Federation has nothing to answer. According to my information, they spent our money a long time ago and have nothing to return. They even quietly whispered about bankruptcy in the event that we force them to return the money through the courts. Convenient: they took the money, spent it – and in the bushes, play silent. A convenient “business,” Konov wrote.

Earlier, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin announced the intention of a number of Russian sports federations to demand compensation for the funds spent from international federations for the costs of organizing tournaments.

Lawyer Maxim Kalinov told Match TV about the real chances of obtaining damages in court. Also, the former general director of the organizing committee of the final match of the Champions League-2021/22, Alexei Sorokin, said that the process of compensation for losses for the final taken from St. Petersburg is in its final stages.

Most of the major tournaments that were supposed to be held in Russia have been moved to other countries due to the situation in Ukraine.
