Requests by Ukrainian officials to impose sanctions against Russia’s partners after the renewed admission of Russian athletes to competitions do not find understanding and seem like a gesture of desperation. “These are already some gestures of desperation. Our athletes are increasingly allowed to participate in international competitions; there are no conflicts or boycotts. Athletes even communicate with each other, this does not bring negative consequences. The appeals of Ukrainians to remove our athletes from every part of the world no longer find understanding among appropriate sports officials. Therefore, such appeals already seem desperate,” Svishchev said.
