Canada’s women’s 4 x 5 km relay finished ninth on Sunday at the Beijing Nordic Ski Centre.
Katherine Stewart-Jones, Dahria Beatty, Cendrine Browne and Olivia Bouffard-Nesbitt were the Canadian representatives in this event.
They posted times of 15:04.5, 15:01.6, 13:17.0 and 13:57.8 respectively to finish 3:39.9 behind the winners, the athletes from the Russian Olympic Committee.
The Canadian quartet was beaten by only four tenths of a second by that of Italy.
It was the Germans and the Swedes who climbed on the second and third steps of the podium, with times 18 and 20 seconds slower than that of the Russians.
There are two events left on the calendar for women’s cross-country skiing, the classic team sprint (Wednesday, February 16), as well as the 30 km mass start (Sunday, February 20).
