Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated the winners of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
On Thursday, April 28, Sobyanin received athletes and coaches in the building of the Moscow government, and also presented them with money certificates.
— Look beautiful with medals. Glad to see you. Congratulations on the victory, on the very difficult competitions in which you had to participate. Russia is accustomed to working and developing in conditions of tough confrontation, sanctions, etc. Our sport, akin to this, is constantly under pressure, especially in recent years. But, interestingly, the more pressure they put on us, the more our country supports sports, its athletes, and the more it cheers for them, worries.
In fact, despite all the limitations, the result was wonderful. Of course, we can use different methods to calculate where we are, but if we take the total number of medals won by our team, we have achieved an excellent result. Second place in the world, ahead of China and the United States. 32 medals is just a brilliant result. Athletes from Moscow also had a brilliant result – 13 medals. You fought selflessly, fought to the end, put all your strength, and we were all very worried about you. On behalf of the Muscovites, I would like to say a huge thank you for defending the honor of Moscow and our country and for your worthy performance. Thank you very much, congratulations! – quotes Sobyanin “Match TV”.
On March 9, it became known that Sobyanin signed a decree according to which the amount of social payments will be 4 million rubles for Olympic champions, 2.5 million rubles for silver medalists and 1.7 million rubles for bronze medalists. Coaches who trained athletes received payments in the amount of 50 percent of the specified amounts.
