The Olympic champion of Vancouver -2010, the three -time owner of the Stanley Cup, goalkeeper Mark Andre Fleri completed his playing career, the Pittsburgh Penguins press service reports.

A farewell match of the 40 -year -old Canadian Fleri was the pre -season game in which Pittsburgh won the Columbus with a score of 4: 1 on home ice. Fleri spent 20 minutes on the ice, reflected eight shots on his goal and was called the first star of the match.

Fleri was going to end his career at the end of the last season of the NHL, when he played the last year of the contract with Minnesota Wilde. However, in the summer he received an offer to hold a farewell match as part of Pittsburgh, for which the goalkeeper played most of his career, and with which he took three Stanley Cups. Fleri signed a trial contract in order to complete his career without waiting for the start of the season.

Pittsburgh chose Fleri in the 2003 draft under the first number. As part of the team, the goalkeeper held 691 matches in the NHL regular championships, another 115 in the playoffs, became a three -time owner of the Stanley Cup and won Vesina Trophy. Fleri also played for Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhox and Minnesota Wilde, as part of the Canadian national team became the Olympic champion.

The match ended with Kremenchuk scoring 4:1, and the match was abandoned twice due to air raids.

At the same time, the home team lost 0:1, but they scored two goals on the power play in the second period and eventually hit an empty net. Vitaly Lyalka scored a double goal.

Traditionally, one of the most interesting hockey tournaments of the year begins – the U-20 World Junior Championship in the elite league. The tournament will take place in the USA from December 26 to January 5.

The American team will defend the title it won in Canada a year ago. However, Maple will try to heal herself after the failure.
