The unimaginable sums that Red Bull will receive for 2023 and pay for 2024
Red Bull Racing’s absolute dominance of the Formula 1 championship in 2023 will earn the company €128 million from commercial rights, but with the record points haul, the Milton Keynes team and Max Verstappen will pay unprecedented entry fees in 2024.
Liberty Media, owner of the commercial rights to Formula 1, will distribute a total of $1 billion to the sport’s 10 teams from the sale of the sport’s television and other rights during the past season – and the amounts will be distributed among the teams in stages divided up. based on the final result of the Abu Dhabi GP.
The $1 billion figure represents half of Formula 1’s total revenue, a figure that has increased since 2017 when US-based Liberty Media acquired the commercial rights to the sport. These percentages are determined by the famous Concorde Pact: the champion receives the highest, and the team in last place in the standings receives the lowest. Let’s see how much approximately (we assume it is correct) each team will receive for 2023:
TEAM PRICES FOR 2023
- Red Bull – 128 million euros (140 million US dollars)
- Mercedes – 120 million euros (131 million US dollars)
- Ferrari – 111.5 million euros (122 million US dollars)
- McLaren – 103 million euros (113 million US dollars)
- Aston Martin – 95 million euros (104 million US dollars)
- alpine – 87 million euros (95 million US dollars)
- Williams – 79.5 million euros (87 million US dollars)
- AlphaTauri – 71.2 million euros (78 million US dollars)
- Alfa Romeo – 63 million euros (69 million US dollars)
- Haas – 55 million euros (60 million US dollars)
The above amounts refer solely to the distribution of F1 revenue and do not include any other bonuses. It is believed that one of these will go to Ferrari, as it has had a special significance for the sport in Formula 1 since the championship’s first year in 1950. This figure is said to be in the order of 5%, or around $50 million (45.7 million euros).
In the past, during the Bernie Ecclestone era, the percentage of teams was lower and usually led to difficult negotiations and threats of teams leaving the club. In one of them, Bernie is said to have set the extra bonus for Ferrari. Additionally, the champion historically received 20% of the teams’ total share from commercial revenue, while today it receives 14%.
This means that this year’s champion Red Bull Racing will receive 140 million US dollars (128 million euros). But given the unimaginable record of wins and points accumulated by both RBR and Max Verstappen, the Milton Keynes team will have to pay unprecedented sums in fees to get both it and the Dutch driver into Formula 1 in 2024 .
The Concorde Pact, as amended in 2013, provides that the amount of each team’s participation fee in the league each year to obtain eligibility is determined by the points earned in the previous season plus a base fee and a fixed fee.
With the increases in these amounts in recent years, which were also due to inflation, the basic and fixed salary was set at 600,000 euros plus 6,000 euros for each degree. With the exception of the champions, who paid 7,200 euros for every point won last season.
Considering that RBR won 860 points in 2023, more than any other team ever in history, and of course were crowned champions, the calculation above shows that the FIA will have to pay an amount of 2024 for the entry fee Must pay 6,805,108 euros. And this must be paid by December 10, 2023.
RBR’s huge points difference with Mercedes and Ferrari in the next two places meant that the teams from Brackley and Milton Keynes had to pay less than half the fee, just over €3 million. The last team in the championship, Haas, with only 12 points, has to pay “only” 673,000 euros. The parabolic table of 2024 in detail:
F1 2024 TEAM PARTICIPATION PARABLE
- Red Bull – 6,805,108 euros
- Mercedes – 3,059,003 euros
- Ferrari – 3,040,904 euros
- McLaren – 2,415,959 euros
- Aston Martin – 2,282,688 euros
- alpine – 1,321,685 euros
- Williams – 769,107 euros
- AlphaTauri – 751,088 euros
- Alfa Romeo – 697,032 euros
- Haas – 673,007 euros
The same applies to Max Verstappen, who will pay the highest driver fee in the history of Formula 1 due to his huge collection of points this year – via Red Bull, of course. To obtain the most expensive super license of all time, for 2024 the amount to be paid to the FIA for the Dutchman is 1,217,900 euros.
As with teams, driver fees have a fixed base amount, to which another is added for each point scored by each driver in the previous year. The basic amount is 10,400 euros for each driver, the amount for each note is 2,100 euros. It’s easy to see how we get to Verstappen’s €1.2 million with the 575 points he’s earned this year.
“It’s a luxury problem because we had to win the points to get this bill out,” said Christian Horner about the heavy bill that Red Bull Racing expects for him and Max Verstappen. “But luckily it’s not included in the limit [ετήιου] budget [των ομάδων της F1]. But yes, it is a big check that we have to write to the FIA,” added the Brit. Below is the detailed list of fees that each driver has to pay for the 2024 super license:
PARABLE OF DRIVER PARTICIPATION IN F1 2024
- Max Verstappen – 1,217,900 euros
- Sergio Perez – 608,900 euros
- Lewis Hamilton – 501,800 euros
- Fernando Alonso – 443,000 euros
- Charles Leclerc – 443,000 euros
- Lando Norris – 440,900 euros
- Carlos Sainz – 430,400 euros
- George Russell – 377,900 euros
- Oscar Piastri – 214,100 euros
- Lance Stroll – 165,800 euros
- Pierre Gasly – 140,600 euros
- Esteban Ocon – 132,200 euros
- Alex Albon – 67,100 euros
- Yuki Tsunoda – 46,100 euros
- Valtteri Botas – 31,400 euros
- Nico Hulkenberg – 29,300 euros
- Daniel Ricciardo – 23,000 euros
- Guanyue Chow – 23,000 euros

- In total – 4,924,700 euros

The F1 champion chose a driver who could win 5 championships. This is not Verstappen
1996 Formula 1 champion Damon Hill expressed his confidence in Lando Norris, believing that the British driver can win three or four championships during his career after his success last month.
Norris finished the 2025 season at the top of the standings, finishing third at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
This earned him a place on a list of world champions that includes only 35 drivers. It’s even rarer for a driver to win more than one championship, but Hill is confident Norris can extend his achievements to four or five trophies.
“He did that, and that provides a certain peace of mind,” Hill said.
“He will be able to relax to a certain degree. It all depends on your desire to win.”
I always thought it would be enough for Michael (Schumacher) to win one, two, three, four, five championships, but he went on to win one or two more championships. On the contrary, some people become more motivated and pursue new titles. I definitely think Lando is capable of multiple championships. “I think there are three or four more left.”
