Michaela Laki (No. 11 in the world in K18) continued her excellent course at the Australian Open Juniors, beating Rana Stoiber (No. 45 in the world) 2-1 and celebrating her qualification on the 16th of the tournament .

Michaela Laki (World No. 11 in K18) is now in the ’16’ of the Australian Open Juniors after beating Rana Steiber (World No. 45) in the ’32’ stage 2-1 (4 -6, 6-4, 6-4). Her opponent in the next phase will be Czech Nominika Salkova (No. 40 in the world).

The Greek tennis player got off to a bad start in the match, losing 4:6 in the first set, with Stoiber even making a break in the 10th game. But that’s when Laki showed character, starting in the 2nd set where she broke in game 7 to go 4-3 and eventually won 6-4.

In the deciding third set, Laki broke in the 1st game, accepted a break in the break in the 2nd and immediately responded with another break in the 3rd, then got away 3-1 and eventually won the set with 6 -4 and celebrated a great qualification in her first appearance at the event. This is the second time in her career that she has qualified for the “16” in a Grand Slam K18 tournament.

Monfils played head to head with Marozan for the fourth time and lost to the Hungarian for the second time.

Gael failed to defend last year’s trophy on Auckland courts. The 39-year-old Frenchman is in the last season of his career.

Marozan will face second place Kasper Ruud in the second round of the competition.
