Men’s Volley League: First treble for Pegasus, 3-0 win over Athlos
Pegasos Polichnis claimed his first Men’s Volley League win after beating Athlos Orestiadas 3-0 in sets with Mavrovouniotis as the protagonist.
Pegasos Polichnis celebrates his first victory in Volley League and with a three point derby with Athlos Orestiada, who closed the 4th round of Volley League Championship.
Pegasos, showing very good formation and superiority in attack and serve, prevailed with a 3-0 set, with Argyris Mavrovouiniotis and Apostolos Armenakis taking the lead with 16 and 12 points respectively.
With the three points, Pegasos rose to 3 points while Athos has 2 points but is now the only team without a win. However, the decisive factor was the second set, where Pegasos even took a 20-15 lead with a good performance in the first half of the set thanks to Armenakis’ serves.
Gradually, Athlos equalized with Kaio’s attack and Glandshawn’s ace. Algul’s block on Barretto gave Athlos a 25-24 lead, but Athlos made a series of errors. Gladstone lost serve (25-25), Genov made a mistake (26-25) and the final came from Armenakis’ block to Rizopoulos for a 27-25 and 2-0 set. From 18-15, Genoff reduced to 18-17 with two points, but Kayo’s mistakes, Mili’s attack and Barreto’s ace opened the gap to +4 (21-17). Genov reduced by 2 points to 21-19 but Pegasos held the difference and Mavrovouniotis finished the set 25-22 for a 1-0.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.
