Men’s National Volleyball: Against Cyprus 3/3

The men’s national volleyball team welcomes Cyprus on Wednesday evening (October 8th, 8:30 p.m.) and wants to get 3/3 in the qualifying phase for the European Championship.

Second home game in a row for the men’s national team as they aim to take another step towards the finals of Eurovolley 2023 against Cyprus (Wednesday 10/8, 8:30 p.m., ERT Sports1).

The representative group after the stressful opening win against Norwaycontinued with her impressive win against Croatia in the sold-out indoor stadium of Glyfada “Makis Liugas” and wants to continue the unbeaten run in the 5th qualifying group.

“It will be a different game compared to what we saw against Croatia. Cyprus is a team with a different style, they have five service jump floats. We have a game ahead of us with a slower pace but we got it right prepared,” said Dante Bonifande, who has no problems.

“Cyprus has a good mentality after the good performance and the win against Norway and they definitely want to have a similar continuation, so we have to stay calm and focused. Of course we want to have people on our side again, just like in the game against Croatia because this team really deserves this support.”

As for Cyprus, coached by Nikos Zalmas, the veteran technician told the Cyprus FA’s website: “We’re going to Athens to fight for the best but it’s going to be a very difficult game.”

Cyprus will see two changes in their composition as Konstantinos Iakovou will replace Andreas Christoforou and Lefteris Ioannou will take Kanari’s dad’s place.

The Cypriot team in detail: Angelos Alexiou, Antonis Mavrommatis (Omonia), Sotiris Siapanis, Marios Nikolaou, Georgios Chrysostomou, Lefteris Ioannou (New Salamina), Antonis Antoniou (Paphiakos), Konstantinos Skordis, Marios Strugarevich (APOEL), Odysseas Savvidis, Dimitris Karkidis, Konstantinos Iakovou (ENP), Michael Kanaris (Phoenix Pyla), Stefanos Charidimou (Latsion national team).

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane

The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.

The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.

“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”

I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.

I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.

The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
